A stunning antique German inkwell from Mühlen & Leendertz decorated with green majolica style glazes. The inkwell is square in shape with a central, raised inkwell with a hinged, round brass lid decorated with a lion's head. The inkstand is square in shape with further moulded floral and chain designs and further lion heads attached to the four sides of the body, and are mounted on a wider base in the centre. The four sides have recesses to accommodate quills.
Condition: used, nevertheless in good condition. The inkwell has light chips on the corners and in some places on the edges. In one place, on the edge, there is slightly larger damage. The brass surround is corroded and needs to be cleaned.
Dimensions: approx. 13.90 x 14.00 cm. High: approx. 9.50 cm. Weighs: 781g.
